Classification of fiber

Fiber is divided into the following two categories:
1) Transfer Point modulus class
Category of transmission point single-mode fiber module (Single Mode Fiber) and multi-mode fiber (Multi Mode Fiber). Single-mode fiber core diameter is small, at a given wavelength can only work with a single mode transmission, transmission frequency bandwidth, transmission capacity. Multimode fiber is given on the operating wavelength can be transmitted simultaneously to multiple mode fiber. Compared with single-mode fiber, multimode fiber transmission performance is poor.

 
2) refractive index distribution class
Refractive index distribution type optical fiber can be divided into transition and the gradient-type optical fiber. Transition of the refractive index of optical fiber core refractive index and the protection layer is a constant. In the core and the protective layer of the interface, the refractive index of a ladder-type changes. Gradient refractive index of optical fiber core radius increases with the decrease according to certain rules, and the protective layer in the core is reduced to the junction of the refractive index of the protective layer. Changes in the refractive index of the core is similar to a parabola.
